Devising from Verbatim Workshops Testimonials:

catalina and kath 2Untold sessions fitted very well with our youth project as they worked with us to adapt each session according to the need of our group. They worked with the group generating ideas as well as giving the right tools to explore outside the box of what they are used to. It was very important for us to work with a facilitator that shared a real understanding migration and issues related to it.   Young people were able to explore issues they face through theatre. The workshops enabled young people to engage in deep and meaningful discussions about stereotypes and migration whilst building their confidence in expression among their peers. The workshops were creative and fun which brought people together from at least 10 different countries speaking Arabic, Somali, French, polish and Gujarat.  Asha Mohamed – Project Worker at Refugee Youth, a charity working with 16-25 year olds

My students this year are going to look at verbatim and so the workshop was highly relevant to both courses. Performance Studies students also took part as they too have to devise for their exam.  The students were challenged to think on their feet very quickly and creating different locations and transitions (this is something students struggle within their devising). Alison Gawkroger – Head of Performing Arts, Colchester VI Form College.

Devising from History Workshops Testimonials:
kingly paranoia

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for an inspirational and dynamic drama workshop led by Nadia Nadif. It was pitched at exactly the right level for our BTEC drama students and will be particularly useful for their upcoming devising project. The workshop was structured and paced expertly and inspired creative and brave responses from the group. The feedback from the group was excellent and all students felt that they would use techniques they learnt in their work again. – Annie John, Co-Programme Team Manager Performing Arts and Music, Newham Sixth Form College

I really liked all the activities you gave us…things that were simple but if you apply that to devising it’s really useful and we can create something really good.   – 2nd year IB Drama Student, Colchester VI Form College

I’ve always been a dialogue sort of person and this has helped improve the physical aspect of my acting.  – 1st year IB Drama Student, Colchester VI Form College

Colchester VI Form CollegeThe activities saved the awkward bit at the beginning of devising.  If you look at different perspectives from different (historical) accounts, people viewed as being guilty or innocent might not have been. – 2nd year IB Drama Student, Colchester VI Form College
