Rehearsals, interviews & interns.

Rehearsals begin, press interviews are imminent and our interns are chosen!  14 Days Left on our Indiegogo…Rehearsals:

The first read through of ‘The Scar Test’ took place last week.  It’s funny, surprising and hard hitting all at once.  Hannah Khalil has done a fantastic job and Audrey Sheffield has got a lot of rich material to work with and shape over our 6 day rehearsal period.  It’s very exciting to have such a large and diverse cast in the space.  Movement director Kris Huball has asked the cast to bring in 2 pairs of shoes tomorrow so we’ll keep you posted why that is soon!

Please keep an eye out for our press interviews:

Nadia Nadif and Taghrid Choucair-Vizoso will be speaking to BBC Three Counties Radio at 1:15pm on Monday 15th June talking about the Bedford showing of ‘The Scar Test.’

Nadia Nadif will be appearing in The Stage on Thursday 18th June talking about diversity within the industry and ‘The Scar Test.’

Untold have done an interview about the company for the Southwark Weekender which will be published on Saturday 27th June.

Internships:

Maia and Audrey were very impressed with the applications – a great amount of care and thought had clearly gone into these, applicants were genuinely keen and excited by the project, and it would’ve been great to have all of them in the room as well.  Seeing as the standard was exceptionally high, we will be exploring ways to fund more paid internships for future projects.  It can be challenging to make contacts without family already in the industry or enough independent wealth to spend the first few years working for free and our paid internships might be the answer to creating more diversity in theatre from the outset!

Indiegogo Campaign:

We’ve been gaining more support on Indiegogo and there’s still 14 days left to help with ‘The Scar Test’.  Your support means we can:

Pay our interns so they earn while they learn at the Arcola Theatre

Take the show to Colchester and Bedford thus raising awareness of indefinite detention in the UK in three different regions

Help raise funds for amazing charity Yarlswood Befrienders by donating our ticket sale proceeds to them

Run free outreach sessions for charities Refugee Youth and Young Roots, where we send facilitators in drama and dance to work with these young people

Please share and spare what you can:
